I had the privilege of trying a really weird fruit last night called the Horned Kiwano Melon. Miss LG saw it at the supermarket, noticed it was $7 and was immediately interested in trying it out. I just so happened to be around when she cut into the little sucker, and boy was it interesting. The texture was exactly that of slime and the seeds were a bit annoying to separate and spit out (think of it like a Pomegranate), but the taste was citrusy as expected and rather delicious. I'm not sure that I'd ever feel the desire to spend $7 on one piece of fruit, but I'm glad LG's curiosity got the better of her. :)
